Depending on the complexity of your operation, your parking lot might require a permit-based system. One in which every vehicle must be matched against a parking assignment. Traditionally, the industry handled this problem with customized windshield stickers that might also identify the parking number. The car would be removed if the sticker did not match the parking space or if the sticker wasn’t present. But you can see that this requires visually checking both the sticker and parking spot without taking into account having to produce and issue the stickers.
We have a better solution. We have developed a mobile app in which your patron/tenants register their parking lot assignment themselves. You can automate the process or manually approve the parking assignments. Among the data we capture for the parking assignment is the vehicle’s license plate, which, in turn, becomes the parking permit. So then, it is easy to identify the respective vehicle towards the tenant and, additionally, to the parking spot number.
It is not only cosmetic.
But no matter how well implemented, the permits are only part of the solution. Only a well-indicated parking lot will be able to perform at optimum implementation. Faded and difficult-to-see indications not only depreciate the look of any parking lot but, more importantly, patrons will not respect them. However, a brightly striped parking lot with clear pavement stenciling will allow everybody to park more efficiently since the ambiguity of where to park has been removed. A faded old sign does not have the same impact as a brightly colored one.
